American Baptist Homes of the Midwest is hiring an Accounts Payable Specialist to support our Finance and Accounting team. This is a temp-to-hire role with competitive pay, strong team support, and a mission-driven culture.

What You’ll Do

· Process invoices and ensure proper documentation and approvals
· Maintain accurate accounts payable records and general ledger coding
· Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
· Respond to vendor inquiries in a timely and professional manner
· Process weekly check runs and support month-end close procedures
· Maintain organized and compliant financial documentation
· Assist with credit card processing and expense tracking
· Support fixed asset tracking and reporting
· Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency

Required Qualifications

· Associate’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience preferred
· Minimum of 2 years of accounts payable experience preferred
· Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and accounting principles
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Sage Intacct
· Experience with electronic accounts payable systems
