A microscope slide with cross, radial, and tangential sections of Quercus alba (white oak) mature wood mounted together for comparison. Demonstrates ring-porous wood. Vessels often occluded with tyloses. Perforation plates are simple and parenchyma is abundant. The broad rays are 12 to 30 seriate while the narrow rays are uniseriate. Safranin stain.
